Book Cover Illustration

It's hard to imagine my favorite stories without their corresponding covers - from Dune to Jane Eyre, and every children's book I consumed like a feast. Illustration in today's vivid world is even more integral to a book's success, it seems, and they don't disappoint - Terra Ignota, Tess of the Road, Murderbot - ethereal worlds so brilliantly captured in a single colorful snapshot, sometimes more inspiring than the words within. To me, the right cover is nothing less than a book's soul mate.

I've been searching for the same for Project Awakening, a print cover to bring it alive. I'm beginning to wonder if my expectations are too high. I see covers by amazing illustrators like Diane and Leo Dillon and I can't settle. A part of me wants to keep the entire work within my own creative realm though my paintings leave something to be desired and my hack job at photoshop is even worse!

You can see from the below design that it really doesn't stack up:

Hopefully something will come of it...and soooon.
